“Now You See Me Live delivers on its promise”

Now You See Me Live delivers on its promise: Vegas style, big lights, big music and big glossy magic to match the the action, pace and drama synonymous with the film franchise of the same name.

The live cast of Andrew Basso, Gabriella Lester, Matthew Pomeroy, and Pablo Cánovas form the ‘Four Horsemen’.

Pomeroy, as host, charms through his audience engagement and slight of hand. Basso is an experienced risk taker – often eliciting gasps of amazement (and horror) in response to his death-defying escapes. Cánovas combines a playful, tongue-in-cheek stage presence with a studious approach to diversion. And Lester’s carefully crafted routines make the most of the theatrical spectacle available.

Together, they form an ensemble capable of shifting styles without breaking the show’s high energy flow. The pacing is intentionally quick, mirroring the tension and twists of classic Vegas productions. Audience members are kept constantly on alert, with new illusions appearing in rapid succession.

Now You See Me Live

The production design is the highlight of the show. How can a helicopter get dropped onto the stage behind a single curtail without detection? The production staff must be working overtime. The music, lighting and technical elements are sophisticated, well-rehearsed and clearly demonstrate no expense has been spared. There isn’t a single stage light or lock left in Perth I’m sure.

The show’s purpose is not to convert hardened skeptics. It is best enjoyed with a healthy dose of cognitive dissonance and child-like belief. And while there is no prerequisite to love (or even have seen) the movies, you best strap yourself in for big tricks, dramatic lighting changes and meaningful magic themed monologues.

Tickets are on sale now for performances until 1st February from Ticketmaster
