Out Of Order is an absurdly funny comedy playing at The Blue Room Theatre from emerging playwright and beloved Perth comedienne Tamara Creasey. It invites audiences to celebrate and laugh at the sacred rituals we create around a cup of ‘morning brown’.
The entire premise of the show is simple: Don’t talk to me before my morning coffee!!! But this familiar mantra is taken with new-found seriousness when the workers of a small business accounting firm are denied their daily visit to a usually reliable coffee van. Everything in the play is turned up to the max, the characters are archetypes of people you know- maybe a colleague you love but likely one that drives you insane and the lengths they go to for “an extra hot but not too hot oat milk latte with natural honey” are side-splittingly funny.

Writer & performer Tamara Creasey is a particular stand out. As “Birdie”, Creasey finds a way to deliver an entirely truthful and nuanced performance that constantly surprises and delights, drawing a laugh when the audience least expects it. This is no small feat in a laugh-a-minute riot. Tristan McInnes is hilarious as “Roy” and, as usual, finds a laugh at every opportunity. McInnes is an explosive performer who lives for his audience. They make up a small part of a dynamic ensemble at the top of their comedic game.
The physical comedy is expertly done. Sometimes bloody, often extreme and always surprising. Out Of Order is the perfect homage to office culture and the work/life “balance”- A great night out for any coffee snob or humble work-from-home brewer.
