The Ultimate Throwback: Lisa Woodbrook on Remixing MILLENNIAL

Lovers of a good 90s and 00s throwback, assemble. Millennial queen Lisa Woodbrook is bringing her hit show MILLENNIAL: Hits of the 90s & 00s back to Fringe World after a hugely successful run last year. We caught up with Lisa to hear what she’s been up to and what’s new in the remixed version of the show.

Hey Lisa, thanks for chatting to Magazine 6000. I think this is the third year that we’ve spoken to you. Tell us about your 2025 and what’s in store for 2026?

Love chatting to Magazine 6000! 2025 was a big one with the launch of a brand-new show, especially a show that was super different to what I had been doing for the past few years, so it was a great challenge! 2026 will be a year of touring! We are set to perform MILLENNIAL in Perth, Adelaide and across regional WA.

Last year you had an amazing reaction to your show MILLENNIAL: Hits of the 90s & 00s, what was it like receiving that feedback?

It was wonderful. Especially feeling the love in our hometown. MILLENNIAL was a new style of show for me and it felt amazing to know that we had hit the nail on the head. I think audiences are looking for something fun, uplifting and energetic these days and the show delivered.

What is it about the tracks you perform that people simply love?

The nostalgia! The audience knows every lyric and we can see them all singing along as we perform on stage. In some songs we could leave the singing up to the crowd, they love it! I think for the audiences these songs take them back to a particular time in their life, for some it’s the soundtrack of their childhood and for others, these were the songs they heard when they first started going to the clubs. The songs mean something different to everyone.

You’ve made some changes to the show for this season, tell us a bit about those?

We’ve given the show a bit of a remix so there’s bigger dance numbers, more pop anthems and we added some new costumes as well to give those coming back a second time a bit of a change up. Plus, there are so many great tunes from the 90s/00s that we did a little shuffle around.

You’re bringing the show here then heading over to Adelaide Fringe. How does it feel to be taking this show on the road (again, it’s also been to Queensland), could it be going further than Aus at some point?

We hope so! VEGAS BABY! We’ll start with touring Australia and then see where we can take it! Adelaide Fringe is a wonderful place to really promote the show and gain support from international producers and presenters with their Honeypot Initiative so we are excited to be a part of that! It’s been a few years since I last performed at Adelaide Fringe, so I’m really excited to be back.

Last time you described the show in five words as – “Fun, energetic, hilarious, platinum, cheeky!” What five words would you use now?

Those are some great words! Ok here’s a change up! “Laugh-out-loud (one word! :P), epic, party, silly, nostalgic!”
